Dr. Blanton S. Tolbert, the first recipient of the 2016 Case Western Reserve University, Department of Chemistry, Morton L. Mandel Award, was honored during a luncheon in August at Case Western Reserve University. The award is part of a $100,000 endowment grant by the Morton and Barbara Mandel Family Foundation to the University’s Department of Chemistry, where Mr. Mandel earned his bachelor’s degree in 2013.

At the event, Dr. Tolbert and Mr. Mandel discussed the chemistry professor’s work, which is focused on the study of HIV. “I am very grateful to be the first recipient of the Morton L.
