The Morton and Barbara Mandel Foundation Funds New Recreation Center in Palm Beach, Florida

The Morton and Barbara Mandel Foundation is making a grant of up to $4.8 million towards a new recreation facility in Palm Beach, Florida, to be called the Morton and Barbara Mandel Recreation Center. The grant is a matching grant with the Palm Beach Friends of Recreation organization and the Town of Palm Beach, who are each contributing one-third of the total cost.

On July 11, construction of the building received final approval by the Town of Palm Beach City Council. The Center will continue the Palm Beach legacy of sport, fitness and fun by improving the quality of life for residents. It will include a new gymnasium with a state-of-the-art fitness center, tennis courts, and an updated multipurpose field.

The new venue is replacing a decades-old center and construction will begin in August 2018, with the building dedication slated for the fall of 2019.
