- Hebrew University of Jerusalem
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem – founded as a university of the Jewish people in 1925 – is a leading research institution consistently ranked among the 100 leading universities in the world. The Mandel Foundation has supported the Hebrew University of Jerusalem since 1985. In accordance with the Foundation’s commitment to expanding access to humanities education, the Mandel Scholion Interdisciplinary Research Center opened in 2002, providing opportunities for scholars and graduate students to broaden their horizons by working with colleagues in other fields. Then in 2010, an $18 million grant was made to construct a new building to house the recently created Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School for Advanced Studies in the Humanities, which includes the Scholion Center. The School enables faculty and students to come together as an intellectual community and share ideas across disciplines. It trains exceptionally talented graduate students to become future leaders in academia.
